She is Persephone\u2019s cousin. For me, Proserpina represents the moment between two times\u2014the return and the disappearance, darkness and light, and the eternal cycle of the seasons. Proserpina\u2019s golden silhouette emerges from the dark, earthy background. The blossoms seem to grow out of her\u2014like a reminder that after autumn, something new begins.    <\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even back in college, I was particularly fascinated by ancient paintings and everything they\u2019ve been through: their beautiful patina, formed over the centuries. Inspired by this, the background is built up with countless layers of paint and then worn away to create a look as if from another era.
