Ophelia is the latest in my series of southern madames. She is a cousin of Olivia and Flavia. Even during my studies, I was particularly fascinated by the paintings of antiquity and everything they have experienced: Their beautiful patina, created through all the centuries. Inspired by this, the background has been applied in countless layers of paint and then removed again to create a look from another era. Above it, as if worked from gold leaf in the light: Ophelia.
